Route to the Labe Spring

The mountain town of Harrachov counts on wheelchair users

Golden Hill

From Harrachov, or from Horní Mísečky, for example, a wheelchair-accessible bus goes to the famous Golden Hill. It stops at Vrbatova bouda and on the hill you can see the famous Hanč and Vrbata Mound.

Vrbatova bouda

But how to get to Vrbatova bouda without barriers can be a bit of a mystery. At the time of the mapping it was necessary to cross a wooden footbridge from the road with a wheelchair. The surprise, however, was the wheelchair accessible main (winter) entrance, which the staff readily opened.

Wheelchair accessible toilets at EuroKey

Inside is another surprise - a wheelchair accessible toilet on the Euro key. If you forget yours at home, the staff has one available. However, three times visitors have "left" with it, so they don't like to give it away.

The mound of Hanč and Vrbata

The Hanč and Vrbata Memorial was built in 1925 to commemorate the tragic event when the vagaries of mountain weather took the lives of two friends during a 50 km race. Getting to the cairn in a wheelchair proved impossible due to deeper and deeper drifts.

Crossroads At the Four Gentlemen

On the way to the U čtyř pánů crossroads, you can enjoy beautiful views of the natural jewels of the Giant Mountains.

The path to the source of the Elbe

The source of the Elbe is paved with large smooth stones, a bit challenging for the cart. They can be crossed, but slowly and carefully. There are 26 interesting coats of arms of the towns where the Elbe flows to the sea on the wall by the spring.

Labská bouda

On the way to Labská bouda, sometimes stones get in the way and you have to go around them. The road was very rocky until almost the end, about 50 m from Labská bouda. Drive slowly and carefully, preferably with assistance.

Access to Labská bouda

The restaurant there is spacious enough to manoeuvre a trolley. The entrance with double doors was wide open, avoiding visitors was not a problem. An uneven walkway of large smooth stones leads from the Labská bouda to the asphalt road as the only possible access. Drive carefully.

The way back

Then head back towards the U Čtyř pánů crossroads and back to Vrbatova bouda, where the wheelchair-accessible bus departs.
